The Problem The same power and flexibility that has made the Internet an integral and indispensible part of modern life are the same that has allowed a plague of malicious software to infect our machines. Not a day goes by without yet another story in the news or from a friend about a nasty Trojan, Worm, Adware, or Spyware infection. How do you know when you’ve been stricken? The infection can cause obvious symptoms like slowing the computer down or crashing it or having the browser display popup ads nonstop, or it can give no clue while leaking your sensitive private information like bank account and credit card numbers. Surveys suggest that 80% or more of the computers on the internet have been infected at least once. Infections happen simply by clicking a disguised link, installing a program, or reading your email. When we received the email touting XoftSpy Scan, we thought it was yet another slickly marketed product with empty promises. Then we put Scan to the test, and found ourselves pleasantly surprised with the results. Most impressive was the rich feature set.
